The Research Group on Demographic Dynamics is part of the Institute of Economic, Geography and Demography, at the Center for Human and Social Sciences in Madrid, which is part of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the largest public institution dedicated to research in Spain. The research undertaken by the group covers a wide range of population issues, including:

  • family dynamics
  • migration and migrants
  • health and mortality
  • ageing and living conditions
  • historical demography

Our research places special emphasis on the interplay of various life-course transitions and on the social context of demographic processes. We are particularly interested in the influence of gender relationships and social policy on demographic behavior, and on the impact of population trends on economic and social well-being. Most of our work has a comparative perspective, and it mainly focuses on Europe and Latin America.
